FAQ

Answers to some commonly asked questions can be found here. If you have a question that hasn’t been addressed, please visit the Contact page to reach out.

1. What exactly do you do?

I license repeat patterns and designs to other brands for products like tea towels, cell phone cases and tour merchandise. I write and illustrate books, create custom art for your home or business, design and paint murals, do live drawing events, and supply illustrations for social media, web, and print. The possibilities are endless. What I value most is original, inventive thinking and creative execution. Have something in mind that isn’t listed here? Reach out and tell me more!

2. Do you take personal commissions?

Yes! I love to partner with clients who are excited by my personal style and who can be flexible with creative control. If that sounds like you, head over to the Contact page and tell me about your project so we can get started.

3. What are your rates?

Rates vary widely depending on the project and scope of work. Please visit the Contact page to provide more information and get a general quote.

4. How far in advance do you book work?

Sometimes I may be booked out for the next couple months, other times I may be able to start that day. On average, I’ll start on your project within two to four weeks of signing a contract. If your deadline is quickly approaching, just let me know!

5. Do you have any courses or tutorials?

I do! I run a Patreon account called Drawn Together with my friend and colleague Joanna Muñoz (a.k.a. @winkandwonder). Drawn Together is full of resources, candid advice, and tips & tutorials for artists and illustrators. Check it out here.

6. I love your work, can I share it on social media?

Absolutely! With proper credit. This includes tagging me (@roymeister on Instagram, Megan Roy Design on Facebook) in the first few lines of the caption as well as tagging me in the actual photo. Please do not apply filters, crop, or otherwise alter my artwork without my explicit permission.

7. What programs/tools do you use to illustrate?

It depends on the needs of the specific project, but most often I’ll use a combination of the Procreate app on my iPad, an Apple pencil, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. But you don’t need fancy tools to make something beautiful! Good old fashioned pencil and paper work just as well.
